What if? What if the Texans never made Hopkins trade?
Hi, this is the first post on this blog but I was just thinking today while I was in a group chat with my brothers about the whole talespin the Texans have been in following the death of Cal McNair Sr. What if the Texans never hired O'Brien as general manager? What if DeAndre Hopkins was never traded?
At first, like everyone else that has watched this team since very first game I was upset with the decisions they were making. I have a DeAndre Hopkins Jersey I have no reason to defend these people but in order to really see both sides of things you have to wear the other shoes and the more I think about ownership's perspective there's not much that would have changed no matter what happened here.
Let's just say all the talks were true that DeAndre Hopkins wanted more money so let's just say we gave him something comparable to what the Cardinals gave him. Where does that put us? That would have destroyed our cap even worse than it already is right? Granted O'Brien made many dumb signings afterwards that ate away at the cap anyhow but let's be real here would DeShaun Watson still have had the same alleged charges against him? I'm confident that he still wouldn't be playing for the team no matter who the owner or GM in charge of things was.
Am I saying anything groundbreaking? No, but I'm tired of hearing the same perspective in the media about how badly ownership failed with the handling of the Watson when in reality there is no handbook for this kind of thing no GM in this league could have navigated this kind of problem with no precedent. The amount of charges we're talkin about here are unheard of this is historical why is ownership being judged in such a light with such an impossible situation?
Basically, I feel like Cal Junior here was put into the worst possible scenario here and I feel like he's being painted in the most negative way possible. This man did not choose this his father died and there was no one else really in line that made sense to run this team. Do I agree with all the decisions made? No, I would not ever fired Brian Gaines without giving him a chance but I believe the media is not being fair at all to this team or to the ownership. This is an impossible situation I want to hear anyone who thinks that they can do better it's completely chaos and for any owner it would be a learning experience.
If you don't like my opinions I will come on any media or even face to face discuss it. I'll see you next time!
